On November 28, 1861, Anderson's Brigade, along with the rest of Longstreet's Division, received Army of Northern Virginia battle flags. These 1st issue flags were made of silk, and the colors were sometimes pink due to a shortage of red material. This was an early version of the 4th SCIR flag.
