I was never employed in any other service - naval or military of the U.S.
I claim pension under the old law on account of g[un] s[hot] w[ound] of left hand, g.s.w. of left temple, g.s.w. of back of neck and shell wound of right

Age is about 62 years; occupation, laborer; residence and Post office address: Hanover, Jefferson County, Indiana.
I am the identical person who enlisted under the name of John Sanders in Co. D 54 Mass. Vol. Inf. (Col'd) sometime in March, 1863, at Boston, Mass., and served about two years and six months and was discharged at Gallops Island, Boston, Mass. where we had just landed from Charleston, S.C. I know I was discharged about latter part of the summer the war ended.
I did not enlist again until in Co. C, 10" U.S. Cav[alry], which was about five or six years after my discharge from Co. D, 54 Mass. Vols., in which I served about five years and was discharged I do know day, month or year of my enlistment or discharge.
DEPOSITION A
Case of William Gibson alias John Sanders, No. 648,529.
On this Ninth day of March, 1899, at Hanover, County of Jefferson, State of Indiana, before me, A.J. Green, a Special Examiner of the Pension Office, personally appeared William Gibson alias John Sanders (colored), who, being by me duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this Special Examination of aforesaid pension claim; deposes and says:
