never saw or knew of him taking a drink. He chews tobacco. I don't believe he chews it excessively. I don't believe any of his diseases are due to vicious habits. I am not related to him. I have no interest in his pension claim. I have understood your questions. Have heard you read my deposition and it is correctly recorded herein and I have nothing further to say.

to me of misery of head a great deal fox six or seven years each year. He told me about four years ago that he was ruptured. I did not see him ruptured. Don't know how it was done except as he told me and that he was lifting but I don't recall whether he told me when or where. I never saw it - his rupture, but he told me it was on his right side. He has complained of rheumatism in his arms and legs for years past. I don't remember about any heart trouble. He has complained of dizzy spells for years, can't stoop down while working. He has been 1/2 disabled for work on account of said disease, since I have known him. He has done no work to amount to anything for two or three years - only a day or two at the time. He has no bad habits - no, he doesn't drink liquor -

DEPOSITION H

Case of William Gibson alias John Sanders, No. 648,529

On this 10th day of March, 1899, at Hanover, county of Jefferson state of Indiana, before me, A. J. Green, a special examiner of the Bureau of Pensions, personally appeared John Sanders, who, being by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension, deposes and says:

I am 55 years of age; my post-office address is Hanover, Jefferson Co[unty], Indiana.

I was in Co[mpany] B, 108" U[nited] S[tates] C[olored] V[olunteer] Inf[antry], and I am a pensioner.

I have lived here about 24 or 25 years and I have known W[illia]m Gibson alias John Sanders the man present ever since I came here to live. He has complained
