Leopold of Austria was born in 1157 to Heinrich II of Austria and his wife Theodora . He married Ilona of Hungary and several years later became Duke of Austria. A Crusader, he nevertheless ran afoul of the Catholic Church in light of imprisoning Richard I, King of England (the two had had a confrontational history, having feuded in Acre)[1].
