Monticello - George R. "Russ" VanDermark of Monticello, a retired employee of the village of Monticello Highway Department, and a 46-year area resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 25, at his home. He was 65.

The son of the late Estel and Myrtle VanDermark, he was born on April 3, 1920, in Newark, N.J. Mr. VanDermark was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Monticello Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Robinson VanDermark at home; three sons, Dennis VanDermark of White Lake, Keith VanDermark of Monticello, and Jack VanDermark of Findlay, Ohio; one sister, Marion O'Connell of Nanuet; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Robert Pinto will officate at services. Burial will be in Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund, or the Monticello Volunteer Ambulance Corps. ^[1]
