Notes for JOHN JR. ROBINS: From "Robins Family of Robin's Neck Virginia", by Elizabeth Henington. Apparently quoting from parts of John Robins Sr.'s will: "JOHN ROBINS, son of John Robins who died on voyage to Virginia, settled about 1633/22 [sic] in Elizabeth City County with his servants. John Robins, the younger, of the back river in Elizabeth City, planter, son and heir apparent of John Robins the elder, deceased. 300 acres on back river in Elizabeth City, due him in right of the said John Robins the elder, for transportation of six persons into this country (visit) of himself the said John Robins the elder, and John Robins the younger his son, Henry West, Peter Asheley, Joseph Moore and William Davis his servants, who came in the Margaret & John in 1622." Source: "By Harvey, Sep. 7, 1632. Ref Va. Mag. Of Hist. Vol 22 (1914) p. 84." "JOHN ROBINS, the younger, patented several tracts of land in various parts of the colony in 1642 Oct. 12, 1642. (Colonial Records of Gloucester County, Va. p. 64, Vol. 1) Book 1, Page 833, 2,000 acres in Mock Jack Baye beginning at the mouth of Sedgy Creek extending to the mouth of Ware River and up to Senerne to Lucas his creek. 1,000 by assignment from Capt. Wm. Brocas to whom Argall Yeardly Assigned $ 1,000 acres for transfer of 20 persons (persons named) Renewal Bk. 2, p. 43 1645, 2,000. This is where he lived the last few years of his life and his residence acquired the name 'Robins Neck'. He was a member of the house of Burgesses from Elizabeth City County in 1646 1649. He was Justice of that county in 1650. According to an Act passed in 1734 for docking the entail on part of the lands inherited from him (Henning Vol 4.461) 'John Robins, late of Robins Neck in the county of Gloucester, deceased was in his life time, seised in fee simple, of two thousand acres of land, with the appurtenances, lying and being Robins Neck, aforesaid, between the rivers Ware and Severn, in the parishes of Ware and Abington in the county aforesaid; and of five hundred acres of land with the appurtenances, lying and being in the parish of Elizabeth City, and so being thereof seised, did make his last will and testament in writing, bearing one thousand six hundred and fifty five.' His gravestone bears our crest dolphins and fleur de lys. "Vol. 4 Hennings p. 461, settlement of estate of John Robins of Robin's Neck land in Gloucester and Spottsylvania and Elizabeth County. First son Christopher had two daughters, second son William died without heirs, third son Thomas -- if either son died without heirs property to be divided among surviving ones."
