Biography

Jacques de Mailard was born sometime late in the 1400s.

He was the son of Vigor Maillard

Jacques de Maillard, seigneur of Champagne married Benigne le Bouteillier, April 16, 1516 in Montivilliers, Seine-Maritime. [1]

Jacques and Benigne had at least five sons who shared in the division of their mother's estate in 1551:[2]

  1. Christophe de Maillard, Squire seigneur of Champagne near Evreux, and sieur de la Boissière near Nogent le Roy, shared with his brother
  2. Charles
  3. Miles Nicolas de Maillard, sieur de la Boissière, shared with his brother[3]
  4. Jean
  5. Louis

Jacques de Maillard died between 25 June 1555 when he was present for his son Miles' marriage and October 1556 when his oldest son Christophe was recognized as seigneur de la Haute Boissière en partie.[2]

Research Notes

In trying to find information on Jacques Maillard, there is a apparently more than one Champagne others of which have Maillard family in operation of. Difficult to discern whether it is the same Maillards as some of the dates seem later than the Jacques Maillard in question. For example, In 1584, Jacques Maillard, son of Guillaume Maillard, had the full fief of Champaignes belonging to the barony of Acquigny. (A.-S.-I. Acquigny, 1584-1636.) [4]

De Maillard-4 and Maillard-5 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same wife (merge raised), same marriage date, son has the same name
Lord of Champaigne.
