Biography

John Stevens was born 2 November 1739 in Salisbury.^[1]

He married Joanna Thorn on 17 February 1669/70.^[1]

Lieut. John Stevens died 26 November 1690.^[1] John's gravestone in Salisbury Colonial Burying Ground, from which the printed record is taken, has 1691.^[2]

However, we know that it was 1690 as the inventory of the estate of Lieut. John Stevens was taken 6 December 1690. His date of death, 26 November 1690, is also given in other documents in this file.^[3]

From another of the probate documents (26355: 10), we learn that Joanna married, second, _____ 'Harthorn', most probably John Hartshorn of Haverhill, and died 29 Aug 1708.^[4]
