I asked descendant and researcher Dorothy (Gile) Mills if Amos Gile was aUnited Empire Loyalist - she replied 6/94 "I have never heard or seen any proofof this, but I remember a notation where Sarah Ketchum, a wife, was thedaughter of a U.E.L. I would imagine that it would have been stated if AmosGile was." In her report received 11/94 of her reserach trip to VT - from "Proceedings atChester, VT Jun 29 1909 on Old Home Day" - copies of early newspapers show thatMoses Gile and his sons Abner, Moses Jr. and Amos were on the side of AmericanIndependence and therefore were not U.E.L.'s,
