"Honeycutt, James A. - 8th Kentucky Mounted Infantry. Forest'sDivision. Cut off from command in Hart County, Ky., in late 1864, whileon a foraging detail. Never able to get back to regiment. This was on theraid by Gen. H. B. Lyon, just prior to the battle of Nashville. This raidwas in retaliation for the wanton destruction of property in theConfederate States by Union forces. The expedition crossed Tennessee, ino Kentucky, destroying property, burning public buildings, etc., amongthem being Court Houses at Princeton, Ky., and Celina, Tennessee. CrossedTennessee again, made their way into Alabama, where thinking themselvesperfectly safe, and being completely worn out, they were surprised andalmost the entire command captured. From Fountain Head, Sumner County. "
