Biography

Nathaniel C. Estabrook (Jr.) was the son of Nathaniel Estabrooks and Mehitabel Cushing Estabrook. He was born in Athol, Worcester County, Massachusetts on November 28, 1824. ^[1], ^[2]

Nathaniel married Mary Ann Boutell, daughter of Adephus and Thankfull Smith Boutell, on December 28, 1858 in Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts.^[3]

Their daughter Mary Ann Estabrook was born on January 16, 1860 in Leominster. ^[4]

In the 1860 U. S. Census (5 July 1860) ^[5] Nathaniel C. Estabrook, Jr. (N. C. Estabrook) was farming. He and Mary Ann (M. A. Estabrook) were living with Nathaniel's father (also N. C. Estabrook) in Leominster, Worcester County, MA. His father was sixty-five years old and had real estate valued at $6000 and a personal estate valued at $1000. Nathan and Mary Ann had a five month old daughter (M. Estabrook, Mary). Mary Ann died on December 25, 1860.

Nathaniel's wife died of consumption (tuberculosis perhaps) on December 25, 1860 in Grafton, Worcester, Massachusetts.^[6] Their daughter Mary Ann was almost a year on.

Nathaniel died on January 26, 1863 in Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He died of Typhus Fever. He was listed as a widower. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. ^[1] This left his three year old daughter an orphan who was cared for by her grandfather.
