Roberta M. Chandler lifelong resident of Tewksbury; 83 TEWKSBURY Roberta Mae (Treadwell) Chandler, age 83, a lifelong Tewksbury resident, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 8, 2009, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of former Tewksbury Fire Chief, William A. Chandler, Jr., who passed away on August 23, 1996. Born in Tewksbury on August 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Galeucia) Treadwell. She attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1943. In earlier years, she attended and taught Sunday school at the Tewksbury Congregational Church. Mrs. Chandler devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed time spent with her family and many craft projects especially knitting. Mrs. Chandler is survived by six sons, James P. Chandler and his wife, Louise (Wolf) of Sweet Springs, WV, William A. Chandler, III and his wife, Cathryn (Webb) of Tewksbury, Robert A. Chandler and his wife, Deborah (Peterson) of Ipswich, John C. Chandler of Newbury, Michael Chandler and his wife, Deborah (Ford) of Lawrenceville, GA, and Daniel Chandler and his wife, Shelley (Sourielle)of Hampton, NH; one daughter, Mary Ann Capolupo and her husband, Wayne of Salisbury; one sister, Phyllis Bosch of Bolton; three sisters-in-law, Isabelle Roper and her husband William and Barbara (MacKay) Chandler, all of Tewksbury, and Janet (Stackpole) (Chandler) Brown of Lowell; 19 grand-children, seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews; also special friends, Kathleen Meehan Chandler and Karen Capolupo Chandler. CHANDLER Roberta M. (Treadwell). Calling hours Sunday, July 12th, from 2-6 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral service Monday, July 13th, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
