Raymond Roy Walston

Raymond Roy Walston passed away September 24, 2005, after a brief illness. He was born in Menard, Texas, on December 23, 1926, to William Raymond and Agnes Menzies Walston.

He was the father of Walker Walston of Roswell, New Mexico; Roy Walston III, (Serena), of Harper, Texas; Lee Walston, (Danita), of Mertzon, Texas, and Ann Freiberger,(Brian), of Puyallup, Washington. Other survivors include his sister, Willie Lee Everett; grandchildren, Matthew Ellison, (Melissa), Jonathan Ellison, Aubrey Walston, Brandon Walston, (Brandi), Jared Walston, (Cassandra), Katherine Walston, and Raymond Roy Walston III; great-grandchildren, Jackson Ellison, Victoria Walston, and Kaylee Walston; his extended family; and numerous good friends.

Raymond Roy graduated from Menard High School and attended Texas A&M University, taking a break to serve in the navy as a Seabee during the end of World War II and then the Korean War. After his return, he enrolled at Sul Ross University, where he played football and graduated with a degree in Animal Husbandry.

He was active in the ranching, livestock, and the cattle and feedlot industry all his life, working for the last several years as a cattle buyer in the Roswell, New Mexico area.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2005, at Anderson — Bethany Funeral Home in Roswell, New Mexico. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church of Menard, Texas with the Reverend Roger Sidener officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery in Menard, Texas.

Services are under the direction of Anderson — Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory of Roswell and Heritage Funeral Home in Menard.
