Funeral Services for Lalia Palmer Manuel, 92, of West Monroe, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2007, in Springhill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Burton Blair officiating and eulogies given by Ashley Winn Tonore and Tommy Barnard. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.
Visitation will be held at from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, May 11, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, and from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, May 12, at Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.
Mrs. Manuel, a former resident of Springhill, was born January 1, 1915, in Colquitt to C.V. and Idell Shackelford Palmer and died Monday, May 7. She was the co-owner of Palmer –Manuel Five and Ten Cent Variety Store, Manuel Dress Shop, L. Manuel Construction Co., Holiday Motel and A&H Rentals in Springhill. She was a former member of the Springhill Civic Club, Ladies Roux Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Alter Society of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Springhill United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Liverty Anthony "Frenchie" Manuel; sisters, Virginia Hudnall and Audrey Blanchard; and brother, W.C. "Billy" Palmer.
She is survived by one daughter, Harryette Manuel Winn and husband Raymond of West Monroe; one son, Anthony Manuel and wife Mary of Springhill; grandchildren, Matthew Winn of New York, N.Y., Adam Manuel of Pleasant Hill, Ashley Winn Tonore and husband Gerald of Monroe, Kelly Manuel and Mike Morales of Shreveport and Cody Manuel and wife Shelly of Springhill; brother, C.V. Palmer Jr. and wife Norma of Summerfield; sisters-in-law, Betty Palmer of Homer and Barbara Manuel of Eunice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Blanchard, Kerry Hudnall, Jim Palmer, Robert Garland, Richard Johnson, Tom Sanders and Gerald Tonore.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Springhill Medical Center Foundation, 2001 Doctors Drive, Springhill, LA 71075.
