Biography

Total guess for birth, based on birth date given for daughter. Devon Visitation gives dates of 1377 and 1405, though not sure of their significance.

Thomas Cotton of Cotton married Elizabeth, the sister of Thomas Greene, 50 Edw III & 6 Hen IV.[1]

6 Henry IV would be 1405/6 (assuming Henry IV of England); 50 Edward III would be 1377/8, so can't be both. If you accept 1377 as the birth year, then 1405 makes sense, although giving birth to Eleanor at the age of 42 is a bit of a stretch.

The quote is literally from the Visitations.

I understand. I was hoping someone could explain the inconsistency in the quote and identify the correct year. 1405 makes the most sense, Also, since 1377 is a "total guess," I maintain a better total guess, based on the date of her marriage, the birth years of her parents, and the birth year of Eleanor Cotton would be 1382. That would make her mother 32 when Elizabeth was born and would make Elizabeth 37 when Eleanor was born.
