Biography

Marion Crichton was born in Scotland.

James Paul vaguely suggests Marion could be the daughter of Robert Chrichton and Marion Stewart.^[1] This may not be the case.

Research Notes

Marion's parents married in 1472^[2] with her birth, hopefully, at least nine months after that time.

Utter reliance on James Paul and his little team of editors could be a mistake. He refers us to a Great Seal charter dated 8th May (and confirmed the following day) in 1499 for this lady. However an examination of this charter gives no mention whatsoever to the Sanquhar family. On the contrary, the fourth witness in the previous charter to Malcolm Craufurd is Robert Creichtoun, son and heir-apparent to Edward C of Kirkpatrick. Robert C appears without designation in the May 9th charter but doubtless it is the same Robert.^[3]
