Nor have I been able to verify her daughter, Isabella Maxwell (Barclay-197) Walker as her daughter. At this point all I know is Rev. George Walker was married to an Isabella.
Perhaps I need "fresh eyes" to look at this. Anyone willing to look at these two profiles?
I can't find any sources for Margaret (Bruce) Barclay.
Here is a list of my sources for Isabella:
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89092628320&view=page&seq=19 This one is from the book, "Genealogy of John Walker from Ireland, 1720," states he married Isabella Barclay.
https://www.google.com/books/edition/Ireland_Preserved_or_the_Siege_of_London/cbFfAAAAcAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&pg=PA320&printsec=frontcover This one taken from the book "Ireland Preserved or the Siege of London," pg. 320
and
https://archive.org/details/armaghclergypari00lesl/page/230/mode/1up
"Armagh Clergy and Parishes," pg. 230 states Isabella was a Maxwell of Finnebrogue.
https://archive.org/details/s11notesqueries02londuoft/page/151/mode/1up In "Notes and Queries," pg. 151, leaves her last name blank stating the name Maxwell of Finnebrogue is wrong.
https://www.google.com/books/edition/Ulster_Journal_of_Archaeology/aaZQAQAAIAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&pg=PA129&printsec=frontcover Once again, this book "Ulster Journal of Archaeology," on page 131, states he married Isabella Maxwell, daughter of Robert Maxwell of Finnebrogue.
http://www.ocotilloroad.com/geneal/maxwell1.html#ISAB1 And last, taken from "The Maxwell Family," a website, states that "monument to George Walker in Castlecaulfield church displays the arms of the Walker and Barclay families, leading some to subscribe to the theory that Isabella was actually Isabella Barclay, perhaps related to Rev. James Barclay, George Walker's predecessor at Donaghmore. Counterpoint is that the arms shown here differ from those on Isabella Walker's will."
On my personal tree, I have Isabella's parents as unknown as well as her surname.
Why is it that Margaret isn’t listed in The Peerage? Why was she born in Ireland when her three brothers were all born in the same area of Scotland? I have to admit, the link looks suspect. If anyone could provide us with a good source for this relationship, I would greatly appreciate it.
