Biography

The father Stent died on the passage to New England or soon after arrival. He left a widow who married Thomas Beaumont of New Haven. The County Court Records show that Eleazer Stent and his sister Elizabeth were the stepchildren of Thomas Beaumont. Elizabeth Stent married Thomas Harrison of Branford.

Eleazer Stent was born about 1643 age 62 in 1705/6.^[1]

He died at Branford, Connecticut, 8 Feb 1705/6, age 62 on his gravestone.^[1]

He was a Lt. of the trainband Oct 1683 and Capt. May 1695. He served as town Clerk, deputy to the Conn. General Assembly and as Commissioner [Justice] for Branford.^[1]

His will was dated 9 Apr 1705, with a codicil 4 Feb 1705/6. The will was proved 27 Feb 1705/6. The will named his wife Elizabeth; daughters Dorothy Barnes, Elizabeth Tyler and Hannah Tyler; sons Samuel, Eleazer, and Joseph Stent. He also gave legacies to his grandchildren Mehitabel Barnes and Elnathan Tyler, who bore the names of his deceased children.^[1]

Eleazer's son Joseph died in 1711. His heirs were Samuel Stent, Elizabeth wife of Peter Tiler, Eleazer Stent, Dorothy wife of John Barnes, and Hannah wife of John Tiler.^[1]

Elizabeth wife of Eleazer Stent died 12 Aug 1712. She was daughter of John Butler Sr of Branford. John Butler's estate refers to Eleazer as his son-in-law. Eleazer Stent conveyed land to "my Brother in law John Butler.^[1]
