Biography

Andrew Jackson Jr. was adopted, along with his sister Leola, by his mother's first cousin, James M. Bacon and his wife, Mary (Miller) Bacon. Andrew served on the Board of Mayor and Alderman in the 1920's, the youngest man to serve on the Board, for many years. He was on the Historic Zoning Committee, a Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Washington County Library Board, and also many progressive movements in Jonesborough. At his death, he left the almost 5-acre property in the city limits of Jonesborough to his niece, Martha Louise Susong Smith, only child of his sister, Leola, and her husband, Jacob Oliver Susong.
