Biography

Rainald/Reginald de Warenne was born in 1082 at Sussex, England.

Rainald was the son of William I, earl of Surrey, died 24 June 1088, and Gundreda.^[1]

Rainald was the brother of:

1. William II, earl of Surrey, who married Isabel, the daughter of Hugh le Magne, count of Vermandois, and confirmed to Lewes Priory for the health of his brother Rainald, 3 hides in Moulscombe,^[2] and before 1106, gave properties to the apostles Peter and Paul at the stead of St Pancras, for the health of his brother Rainald;^[3]
2. Edith, whose maritagium appears to have been Mapledurham, and who married:
   1. Gerard, the older son of Hugh de Gurnay I (Hugh III in Normandy) and his wife, Basilia, the daughter of Gerard Flaitel, and
   2. Drew de Monceaux, after Gerard died in the Crusades, .^[4]

Taken prisoner at Dive in 1106.^[5]

Reginald died in 1117 at Sussex.
