I am a descendant of Michael Krieger-Creger whose ancestor was John Balthasar Crieger, a shoemaker,Lutheran, and was from Halle in Saxony (now East Germany). His son was John Gottfried Kreiger who married Anna Maria Kramer in Germany. Their son, John Jacob Krieger was born in Froschen, Pfalz, Germany and married Anna Barbara Brandstetter. Jacob was a weaver. On May 7, 1765 he and his family left for America. His son, Michael Hans Kreiger, and his parents moved to Montgomery Co., VA from Pennsylvania in about 1777-1778. My next descendant is Henry Creager and then Ambrose Creiger. Yes, there are many spellings. Have you seen the book, "Notes on the Two Kreiger (Cregar, Cregger, Crigger, etc.) Families of Wythe County, Virginia" written by Clifford R. Canfield? It good information on both Krieger families that came to Wythe County.
If you want more information about the book, please contact me. Also, if you are a descendant of Ambrose Creiger, I have lots more information about his family after he died. They came to Maury Co., Tennessee.
