Biography

Dorothy was born about 1903, in Jay, Franklin County, Maine. She is the daughter of Ferdinand Allen and Florence Parsons. ^[1] She lived in Jay, Maine, her entire life and apparently never married.

In 1910, the Allen family was farming in Jay, Franklin County, Maine.^[2] The household included the parents, Dorothy and her siblings, Verna, Stanley, and Raymond.

By 1920, Raymond was no longer in the home. The family continued to farm in Jay, Maine.^[3]

By 1930, Dorothy was living with her sister, Verna, and their widowed mother, Florence.^[4] Although 26, there was no occupation listed for Dorothy on the census. The three ladies continued living together and were enumerated on the 1940 census as still living in Jay, Maine. Dorothy still had no occupation.^[5]

Dorothy passed away in 1946. Burial was in the Jay Hill Cemetery in Jay, Franklin County, Maine. She shares a headstone with her parents and sister, Verna.
