Biography

Henry Banaster or Banester of the Bank in Bretherton, Lancashire,[1][2] (d. 1617),[3] was the first son of:[1]

  • William Banaster of the Bank,[1]
  • and Christian, dau. of Ralph Ashton, Esq. of Leaver, Lancashire.[1]

Marriage

He married three times to:

  1. Alice Cuerden or Kuerden
  2. Anne Anderton
  3. Ellen Standish.

Cuerden

Henry's first wife Alice Cuerden, was d. & coh. of John Cuerden of Cuerden, Lancashire.[1][2]

children

Their only child Alice Banaster,[1][2] was married to Sir Thomas Haggerston, Bart. of Haggerston Castle in Northumberland.[2] Haggerston was created baronet in 1643, and was the son of:[2]

Anderton

Henry remarried to Anne Anderton. She was the daughter of James Anderton of Clayton, Lancashire.[1][4] Her father appears to belong to the cadet branch of the Andertons of Euxton. One James Anderton of Clayton, was the eldest son of:[5]

Death

Visitations (1664/5), asserts that Henry died in c. 1614,[1] but Farrer & Brownbill (1911), state that he died in c. 1617 and that his son and heir Henry, was a one-year-old child in that year.[3]
