Biography
Polly McRay’s mother, for whom she had been named, died when Polly was about nine years old, after which Polly lived with her aunt, Mary (Humphrey) Case. In 1811, when Polly was about twenty years old, she went "West" to Vernon Center with her cousin, Lucy (Humphreys) Hills. There she met Elisha Pettibone, who had arrived in town the year before.
