Biography

Darius Spring was born on 23/28 March 1792 in Otis, Berkshire, Massachusetts, United States, the son of Amos Spring and Rebecca Curtis Spring.[1][2]

He married Mehitibal Jones on November 28, 1812 in Otis.[3] Their son was:

Darius was a fifer with the Adams and Crosby Regiment of the New York Volunteers during the War of 1812.[2] A secondary source (probably based on family legend) says that Darius was "scalped by Indians" during the Battle of Fort Erie in September 1814, and that his brother Amos brought him home for burial pickled in brine.[5]

Darius died on 17 November 1814 in Ontario, Canada.[2]
