Biography

Cutting Moody was born April 9, 1674 in Newbury, Massachusetts to Samuel and Mary Lunt Moody.^[1] He married Judith Little, daughter of Joseph and Mary Coffin Little on March 25, 1696 in Newbury.^[2] The couple had eleven named children; Abigail (b. 1696), Hannah (b. 1698), Joseph (b. 1701), Mary (b. 1703), Judith (b. 1705), Lydia (b. 1707), Cutting (b. 1710), Moses (b. 1711), Humphrey (b. 1714), Humphrey (b. 1716) and Sarah (b. ?).^[3] There is one other unnamed daughter cited as born November 25, 1713, died December 9, 1713.^[4]

Cutting was elected as Newbury Constable in 1710, Selectman in 1711, Tything-man in 1707 and 1714-15 and representative to the Massachusetts General Court in 1733 and 1737.^[5] He died on April 13, 1747 in Newbury.^[6]
