Floris was first mentioned in 1157 AD. He is called "Florentii terra de vorran." Which many history writers translate as Lord (Terra) of Voorne.
Floris van Voorne, was mentioned with his brother Dirk in 1174. He was also mentioned in a charter with Hugo van Voorne in 1168. So we can presume that Floris, Dirk are brothers of Hugo.
Florentius was married with a daughter of Altena. We find this in a charter if 1173 AD. They had one son:
Hugo van Voorne. We base this in a charter written before 1190 AD, which states: [.....] Hugo f(ilius). Florentii, Theodericus de Vorren [.....][1]
After Hugo van Voorne (1108 AD) the next person mentioned is Florentius van Voorne (1157 AD).
He is called "Heer van Voorne" ("Terra").
He had a son named Hugo.
The next Heer van Voorne is a Hugo van Voorn (Listed 1198-1215).
However in more recent articles this is dismissed as incorrect.[3]The reason being:
None of the three brothers Hugo (Listed 1198-1215), Dirk (Listed 1198-1226), Bartholomeus (Listed 1199-1214) named their children Florentius.
The name Florentius disappeared after this generation.
Therefore it is more logical that the three brothers are sons of Dirk van Voorne (or Hugo). As the name Dirk van Voorne stayed in their descendends.
