Mrs. Florence Elizabeth Howland Smith, wife of St. John Smith, broker, died yesterday at the family residence, 129 East Seventieth Street. Mrs. Smith was the mother of Frances St. John Smith, Smith College freshman, who was accidentally drowned in 1928 in Massachusetts, and whose body was not recovered until after fourteen months, during which time Miss Smith was the subject of a nationwide search. Surviving Mrs. Smith, besides her husband, is an only son, St. John Smith Jr. ^[1]
