Paternal line Y-chromosome DNA test-takers:
Something is wrong with the dates here. Mary was born in 1565. This shows Francis Cosby as born in 1571. That would mean Mary would have been 6 when she gave birth to Francis. Mary and Alexander are also not supposed to have been married until 1580. 1581 would make a lot more sense; was there perhaps a typo here?
Francis had a son William as per an Elizabethan fiant of 1596:
"6017 (5028.) Grant to Dorcas alias Sydney, widow of Alexander Cosbye, father of Francis, and Helen Cosby alias Hartpolle, widow of Francis Cosbye, late of Stradballye, Queen's co., gent. ; of the wardship of William, son and heir of the said Francis ; and custody of his lands, during minority. Rent £17 16s. 3d., from which they are to retain £5 14s 9d. for the
dower of Dorcas, £3 16s 6d. for the dower of Helen, and £5 for the support of the minor. No fine, as both Alexander and
Francis Cosby were slain in the queen's service. Recites Chancery Inquisition, Queen's co., Eliz. , No. 5.12 Sept., xxxviii. (Cal. p. lt., p. 367.) "
