Margaret is named as Margery in the will of her brother Nicholas Wykes of Wells, Somerset, dated 12 January 1610/1611 "my sisters Joane Olyver widowe and Margerie Hill wife of Thomas Hill ... John Oliver sonne of the said Joane and Nicholas Hill sonne of the saide Margerie".[1][2]
Marriage of Thomas Hill and Margerie Weekes 4 May 1595 at Taunton, Somerset.[3][4]
Research Notes
The marriage of Thomas Hill at Stillingfleet, Yorkshire, on 10 October 1611 is for a different Thomas Hill, as the bride is named as Margaret Swayne not Margaret Wykes/Weekes.[5] They were probably born at Stillingfleet but there are no records before 1598. They had at least 6 children at Stillingfleet after the marriage, but no Nicholas. This marriage is also too late for Margaret/Margerie Wykes as she was already married with at least one child by January 1611, the date of the will.
Possible baptism for son Nicholas, 28 November 1603 at Salisbury, Wiltshire, Nicholas Hill son of Thomas.[6]
