Alexander Dillard migrated from Tennessee to Arkansas.

Alexander was born on 1 September 1808 in Tennessee, United States. He was the son of Osborne Dillard and Naomi 'Oney' Clark.

About 1825 he married Delilah Ligon. In 1830 they were living in Smith County, Tennessee.[1] She was the mother of Joseph, William O. and John C., plus four others that died young.

After the passing of Delilah around 1837, he married Mary Wood. He moved his family from Tennessee to Izard County, Arkansas around 1849. By 1850 the family was living in Rocky Bayou township, Izard County, Arkansas. Age: 44[2][3] They had a son, James.

Land Patent: 1 March 1855 in Arkansas.[4]

Land Patent: 16 June 1856 in Arkansas.[5]

Land Patent: 1 July 1859 in Arkansas.[6]

Civil: 1 May 1860 in Izard, Stone, Arkansas.[7]

In 1860 Alexander was living in Union, Izard, Arkansas. Age: 52[8]

Land Patent: 1 October 1860 in Arkansas.[9][10]

He died in 1868 in Izard County. He is buried at Spring Creek Cemetery in Izard County, Arkansas.[11]

Alexander Dillard & family located from TN to Izard Co, Ark in 1849. Throughout his entire life, he was engaged in farming and merchandising, following the later occupations at Spring Creek and Flat Woods after coming to Arkansas. He served as Justice of the Peace and Deputy Sheriff of his county. He was quite a wealthy man prior to the war, and owned several negroes, but his losses during the rebellion were very heavy, and these he never fully regained. He died in 1867, at the age of fifty-nine years. His first marriage in 1825 to Delilah Ligon, were born a family of seven children, three of whom lived to be grown, Joseph Alexander, William Osborn "Osby" and John C. Alexander & Delilah are natives of Tennessee and were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Delilah passed away 1837/1838. Mr. Dillard's second wife was Mary Wood, of Tennessee, whom later became Mrs. John Anderson. Mr.[W.O.] Dillard is a Democrat and a man who favors and supports all laudable enterprises, especially those connected with churches and schools.[12]
