Biography

Charles de la Vergne was born in St Eustache, Paris, France to Abel De La Vergne and Elisabeth de Billet around Aug 5, 1700. He was baptized on August 5, 1700,

He was in the military and served three times in Louisiana (1719-1725, 1733-1745, and 1747-1751). In August 1759, he was awarded the Chevalier of St Louis award by the governor.

He married Marie Josephe Carriere around Jun 16, 1739 in the Church of Fort Louis, Mobile, Alabama. He was listed on the marriage record as a lieutenant on 1/2 pay in the Province of Louisiana.

In September, 1763, he was pensioned out of the military as part of the colony's transition to Spanish service.

He died in New Orleans on Feb 6, 1766.
