Son of Jacob & Elizabeth (Cain) Flowers Jr. of Chatham Co., North Carolina. Green was named in honor of General Nathaniel Greene, hero of the Revolutionary War, whom his father served under during the war. Married on 26 February 1817 in Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee. Moved to Robertson County, Tennessee, ca. 1817. Moved to Mt. Carmel, Humphreys Co., TN (now Holladay, Benton Co., TN) ca. 1823. Green was one of the 5 original Benton County commissioners, the other 4 being: George Camp, Ephraim Perkins, Lewis Brewer, & John F. Johnston. By an act of the Tennessee state legislature the county commissioners were to organize the county, to locate & lay out the county seat - to be named Camden. Green died between 2 June 1860 & 16 December 1863, in or near Mt. Carmel, Benton County, Tennessee. Green's grave is unmarked.

Green Flowers, private in the 4th North Carolina Cavalry, on the Confederate side, E Co., was captured on 5 July 1863 at Monterey Springs. He was transferred to ?PLookout in Oct 1863. [5]
