Robert Dormer succeeded his grandfather as 2nd Baron Dormer of Wing on 8 November 1616.
After schooling at Eton he matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford University[1] and graduated on 25 May 1627 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).
He was created 1st Earl of Carnarvon [England] and 1st Viscount Ascott on 2 August 1628.[1]
He was a royalist supporter and was commissioned with the rank of commander, in the service of the Regiment of Horse for the King.
He was invested as a Knight on 18 April 1642 at York, Yorkshire, England, by King Charles I. He fought in the Battle of Roundway Down.
He was killed in action during the First Battle of Newbury.[1]
Marriage date probably 1625 but 1624 under church year convention.
