Biography

Vanda was born on 18 June 1912 in Yorkshire, England. She was the daughter of Major Foster Swetenham, Royal Scots Greys, killed in action in France in 1914, and his wife Muriel Gladys Chaplin.

When Vanda was 24 she married Anthony Taylor on 7 Oct 1936 in Westminster, Middlesex, United Kingdom.^[1]

They had four children, three daughters and one son:

1. Vivien b. 1939, who married Maj-Gen Nicholas Ansell. They had 3 children
2. Rosemary b. 1940 who married Richard Francis Macaire 1939-2010. They had 4 children
3. Jeremy Donnithorne b. 1942 who married Mary Fern Fleming. They had 2 children.
4. Celia Mary b. 1950 who married David Plunkett; They had 3 daughters.

Like her parents, brothers, husband, children and grandchildren, she was a keen horsewoman.
