Biography

James was born in 1694, in Groton, MIddlesex, Massachusetts.^[1] He was the son of Joseph Cady and Sarah Davis. He passed away in 1731. ^[2] James Cady was buried in Aspinwall Cemetery, Putnam, Windham, Connecticut. His headstone is inscribed James Cady Died Febry ??? 1732 in the 39th Year of His AGE.^[3]

James 3 Cady b. Groton, Mass., Nov. 22, 1694; m. Abigail_____?_____ . He d. Feb. 2, 1732. Resided in Thompson Parish, Killingly, where his father gave him 50 acres of land April 1, 1720.

Children, b. Killingly : i. Bathsheba, bapt. Sept. i, 1717; m. Dec. 16, 1734, Baraciah Johnson. He d. before 1740.

ii. Prudence, bapt. June 8, 1718.

iii. Abigail, bapt. May 29, 1726; m. (probably) Jonathan Church, b. abt. 1725, and had Amasa, Abigail, m. Wood ; Mary, m. Campbell, whose son, Solomon Campbell, was long a member of Congress.

iv. Penuel, b. Oct. 1, 1732. ^[4]

Cady, James of Killingly, Conn, [died] from the kick of a horse at Canterbury while visiting his cousin Ezekiel Cady. Left widow and 4 children, Feb 2, 1732/3. ^[5]

Entries in the probate file of James Cady, dated from 1733 to 1736, indicate that his widow, Abigail, was the executrix of his estate, and that Abigail, the widow, had married Samuel Whitmore. ^[6]
