Research Notes

• Rhoda's birth and death dates are on her toumbstone in Navarro, Texas. The 1865 date stated cannot be the mother of William David Arnett, who was definitely born in 1870. This grave marker also establishes that she is the wife of James Edwin Arnett. (see sources for Find A Grave citation).

• In the 1850 and 1860 Censuses, she is living with her birth family in Cannon, Tennessee. (See census citations below).

In 1863, Rhoda marries John Holtermand in Cannon, Tennessee. Their marriage was short lived-she is living with her parents again in the 1870 census, with a 6 year old daughter, Eliza Holtermand (poorly spelled). See the 1870 census in the sources below. I have not added John Holtermand as a spouse yet, because Ineed to more research to find inforrmation about him. Also, note that William is not listed in the 1870 census, living with his mother and sister. His birth was in July of1870, so he is most likely not yet born.
