Elda Buckley Schluneger went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. She has been a resident of the Courtyard in Colfax for the past five years. Elda was born October 9, 1917 in Cozad, Nebraska, daughter of Charles and Inez Buckley. Her family was driven from Nebraska during the Dust Bowl drought. She married Earl Schluneger, June 22, 1939, and they made their home in Colfax farming, raising cattle and driving grain and cattle trucks. Elda was an avid horse woman and was a proud semi-truck driver. She was a member of the Onecho Bible Church, enjoyed studying her bible and liked to quilt. Two daughters, Vicki Schluneger, Yakima, and Sherry Cox, Colfax survive her. In addition, two grandchildren, Julie McBride, Bickleton, WA and Craig Cox, Colfax. She has seven great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband Earl, and great-grandson Thomson Lee Cox. A graveside service will be Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Onecho Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Onecho Bible Church.
