Henry was the son of John Bateman of Alta Villa, co. Limerick, and Grace Brooke. He was baptised on 10 October 1758 at St Mary's church, Dublin. [1]
He entered Trinity College Dublin on 3 July 1775, aged 17. B.A. 1780. [2]
Curate of Shanagolden, Count Limerick, 1791-1808. He was Vicar of Abbefeale, County Limerick 1808-1821.[3][4]
Henry married in April 1811 to Matilda Cooke, from Dublin at Limerick.[5]

On Monday, Ist April, at St. Peter’s Church, the Rev. Henry Bateman, of Mount-Henry, Co. Limerick, to Matilda, eldest daughter of the late Captain Cooke, of Leeson Street.
Henry died on 20 Nov 1821 at Newcastle, County Limerick.[6]
