↑ Source: #S47 Data: Text: DEATH RESULTS FROM ACCIDENT CONT CONT Oberlin Resident Died in Lorain Hospital After a Fall From Car CONT CONT Abram Jackson Fatally Injured on Erie Avenue -- Funeral Services Held Here Thursday. CONT CONT Abram Jackson, highly respected resident of this place, died Monday morning in St. Joseph's hospital in Lorain from the effects of a fall from a car on West Erie Avenue in that city Saturday night. CONT CONT Mr. Jackson had been in Cleveland during the day and was returning to Lorain where he and his wife have been living with their daughter during the winter months. No one on the car saw him fall but a man on the street saw him come head foremost from the car vestibule and went at once to his assistance. The car was changing from the double to the single track and it is thot [sic] that the unfortunate man lost his balance when the car swung around and was precipitated head foremost to the pavement below. CONT CONT He was picked up unconscious and taken at once to St. Joseph's hospital. It was found that his skull had been fractured by the fall. After being in the hospital a few hours Mr. Jackson rallied long enough to telll his own name but after that remained unconscious until the end which came at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning. CONT CONT Mr. Jackson was born near Cambridge, England in 1832 and was in his seventy-ninth year at the time of his death. He came to America in 1853 and for a year or two resided in Cleveland. He then went to Canada for a number of years but returned to Cleveland in 1876. In 1880 he moved his family to Oberlin and had been a resident of this place ever since, residing at 249 North Main street. CONT CONT Mr. Jackson had not come of age when he married and two weeks after the wedding he andhis wife set sail from Liverpool to make a home for themselves in the new world. CONT CONT He was a faithful member of the Second Congregational church of which he served as sexton for several years. He was known for his kindly disposition and his deep sympathy for those in misfortune or affliction was well known. His wife has been in poor health for some time and his sudden death at Lorain came as a severe shock to her. She is now in a very critical condition at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Crocker at 1136 Ninth street. CONT CONT Short funeral serrvices were held at the Crocker home Thursday forenoon and the remains were brot [sic] to Oberlin on a special car. The funeral services were held in the Second Congregational church at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. N. Pierce. A quartet furnished the music. The funeral was largely attended by friends and citizens of this place. The remains were laid to rest in Westwood cemetery. CONT CONT Mr. Jackson is survive by his wife and seven children : A. .F. Jackson of Groveland street, Eugene Jackson of Cleveland, Mrs. S. J. Crocker of Lorain, Mrs. Dell Broadwell of Union street, William Jackson of Cleveland, George Jackson of Athens, O., and Mrs. V. A.
