Thomas and his wife, Jennie were friends of my family, so we occasionally ate meals together. As a child I used to love to watch him eat peas because he lined them up on the broad table knife that he used, and rolled them off into his mouth, never dropping any of them! (I should add that the knives were much wider than those available now.)
