I wonder where Emilie and Magdalena were? Plus there were supposed to be children of Gottlieb's brother with them.

Notes: from Ina Williams Miller and Delphia Williams Henrichson Wilson When Gottlieb and his family came to America they went to Tripp,SD where Gottlieb was a farmer, a shoemaker, and a teacher. I have been told that he had been a Lutheran minister back in Rohrbach and he held services for the neighbors when they lived in Tripp,SD. Back in Russia Gottlieb had been a parochial teacher.

It is said that Gottlieb promised his brother before his death that he would bring his brother’s children along with him and his family when he came to America. It is said that 14 people came on the boat from Russia to America.

Gottlieb and his sons went to Faith via the railroad first before the rest of the family to set up their homestead claims (Spring of 1910). After, they returned for their family and returned to Faith. They built a 3 room house one of the first of it’s kind in the area. Gottlieb and Susanna were very poor, but they had a good, happy marriage. After the kids were gone they moved in to Faith. Susanna like goose feather pillows and made good kuchen. Gottlieb repaired shoes too. It is said that Susanna was very pretty when she was young-very alive. They tried to get out of debt by raising turkeys and milking cows-unfortunately lightening struck and killed the hens. They sold some of their land to Philip to help pay off the debts.
