Biography

John Wogan was born in Wales.

John was the son of David Wogan and Anne Plunkett.^[1][2]

He married Anne, daughter of James Butler 3rd Earl of Ormond.^[2] They had issue:

1. Katherine,^[1] m. Owen Dunn of Muddlescomb^[2]
2. Ann, m. Sir Oliver Eustace^[2]

Research Notes

Although his father's birth is estimated at 1359, it is only known for certain to have been between 1351 and 1376. Assuming the earliest date of 1351 and a minimum age for a groom of 14, plus a year before birth, one can be certain that John was born after 1366. A more realistice estimate would be based on the father's estimated birth of 1359 and allowance of 21 year at marriage resulting in 1381 or later as his birth.

His wife has previously been shown on WikiTree as daughter of James Butler, 3rd Earl of Ormond. "There is no good evidence for this. The unreliable source is a passing mention in an 1858 note in Notes and Queries."^[2] (Text from the profile of James Butler.)
