Francis was born in 1752 in Waterbury, CT. He married Roxana Warner in 1777 and had several children in Waterbury. In 1792, he moved his family to what was then known as Rochester, Ulster, County NY, prior to the formation of Sullivan County. Today, it is known as Neversink or Eureka, Sullivan County, NY. Roxanna's father, Stephen Warner, also moved his family. Stephen served in the American Revolution and was probably granted land in Sullivan County. It is suspected that Francis might have served as well, especially given the gap in age between his first child and the remaining children, and was also granted land in Sullivan County, but no records have been found at this time to support that. Neversink and Eureka were later flooded and they are now reservoirs. The cemetery in which many of the family was buried was relocated to nearby Grahamsville, NY. Francis died in 1819 and is written about as one of the founders of the Neversink area.
