James Scarlett, 1st Baron Abinger was born in 1769[1] at Paradise Estate, Jamaica. He was the son of Robert Scarlett and Elizabeth Anglin.
1770 Baptism
James was baptised on the 5th March, 1770[2] at Hanover, Jamaica.
1792 Marriage
James married Louise Henrietta Campbell, daughter of Peter Campbell and Mary Campbell, on 22 August, 1792[3] at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, England
1843 Marriage
James married secondly, Elizabeth Steere, daughter of Lee Steere Steere and Sarah Harrison, on 28 September 1843.[4]
1835 Elevated to Peerage
James was created 1st Baron Abinger on 12th January, 1835.[5]
1844 Death & Burial
James died on the 7th April, 1844[6] and was buried at St James Anglican church, Abinger, Surrey, England on the 14th April, 1844.[7][8]
1844 Will
His will (dated at under £18,800) was proven (by probate) in 1844.[9]
