Biography

Catherine Ammaun was born in Germany, in December 1853.^[1] She immigrated to the USA in 1874.^[2] In looking at the image of this actual census page, it appears she may be from Bavaria (which is crossed out, but still obviously present).

Catherine married Conrad Benziger in Knoxville, Tennessee, May 6, 1879.^[3] The Rev. J. George Schaidt, Pastor of the First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiated.^[4]

Conrad and Catherine Benziger had two known children:^[1]

• Hellen, b February 1880
• Kate, b September 1883

After Conrad died in 1892, she continued to reside in Knoxville, Tennessee until her death.^[5] She died in 1920, in Knoxville, Tennessee, and is buried in New Gray Cemetery; her husband, Conrad, is buried in the same cemetery.^[6]
