Biography
Elisha Poinsett (1711 - 1771), son of Joel and Susannah, born in Charleston, married Catherine Harris (1715-1774) the 23rd of Oct 1734, at Trinity Church, Newport, RI. Catherine was born 20 Apr 1715 in Newport and died in 1774 in Charleston. He signed the naturalization and land securing act of 1696. Elisha was a Mariner in Philadelphia, 1734; joined the South Carolina Society, 1743; Registrar at St. Phillips, Charleston, 1758-1770
