Nancy Ellis Keith passed away peacefully on August 19, 2015, at home in Albuquerque, NM. Her loyalty to her friends and sincere love for her family will be sorely missed.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Arlando "Bo" Keith; son James "Greg" and wife Valeria; brother Dick and wife Pat; and brother John and wife Sandi. Nancy is also survived by nieces and nephews Wendy Kuhl, Peggy Cox, Ted Ellis, Guy Ellis, Matt Ellis; step-daughter Wendy Keith Cook; and step-son Peter Keith.
Nancy was born in Ponca City, OK, May 21, 1936, and raised in Raton, NM, where her father, Homer Ellis, published the Raton Range newspaper, and her mother, Eugenia Steuart Ellis, was a school teacher. Nancy was an honor student and active in many school activities, including being a drum majorette, at Raton High School. She continued her education at Colorado College, Colorado Springs, CO, and the University of New Mexico. She was awarded a BA degree in Psychology and had a career in social research, covering the government Head Start and Senior Nutrition programs.
Nancy enjoyed years of activities with the Girl Scouts, Rainbow for Girls, and Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She was an avid tennis player and skier, and was an accomplished piano and violin player, performing at St. Chad's Episcopal Church where she was long-time member.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service arrangements are pending to accommodate family schedules and will be announced at a future date.
