Abraham was born in 1831. He was the son of Isaac Courson and Susannah Jane Harriger. He passed away in 1912, and was buried at Churchville Cemetery, Curllsville, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.[1]

The citizens of Curllsville and the vicinity were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Abraham Courson on Thursday evening, Aug. 1, 1912, caused by heart failure. He was born in Monroe Twp., Clarion Co., Sept. 17, 1831, and was 80 yrs., 10 months, and 14 days old. He lived his entire life in Curllsville. He was a soldier of the Civil War, belonging to the 148th Regt. Co. K, which was organized at Curllsville Aug. 18, 1862. He enlisted as a private for 3yrs. at Harrisburg, Sept. 7, 1862, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant June 1, 1865. He was wounded at Poe River April 10, 1864. Mr.Courson was married April 15, 1866 to Miss Susan Fox. To this union were born nine children, two of these died in infancy and the rest survive to mourn the loss of their father. They are: Scott E., Willis W. Curllsville; Mrs. O. C. Kline, New Bethlehem; Mrs. J. F. Kline, Lawsonham; Mrs. J. M. Henry, Sligo; Wilbert A. Vandergrift and Frank C. Chicago. Two brothers and two sisters of the deceased are still living and 17 grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. M. Dietrich of the Reformed Church, assisted by Rev. J. M. McCurdy, D. D. of the Presbyterian Church.
