Charles was born in 1887, the son of Herman and Marguerite Meiser. He entered the US Navy at the age of 21 [sic: he would have been 31 in 1917] and served to the end of World War I, seeing duty in Cuba and Mexico aboard the US Transport Von Steuben.[1]
At the time of the 1900 Census, "Herbert" was enumerated at age 13 in his parents' home at 927 West Fayette, Ward 21, Baltimore, Maryland.[2]
Charles passed away in 1965 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fort Howard, Maryland.[1] and is buried at Bates Methodist Church Cemetery in Worcester County, Maryland.[3]
